In addition to worship services and fellowship, the St. John ohana also extends its stewardship and faith into the community through participation and support of the following missions:
The Kailua Houseless Service Event is a multi-organization service event held monthly for the houseless in the Kailua community during which guests are provided with a meal, toiletries, and clothing as well as the opportunity to take a shower, receive basic wound care, or benefit from pro bono legal advice/advocacy, among other services.
Family Promise is a network of interfaith congregations which host families on a quarterly basis - providing a safe place to sleep, good food, and generous hospitality. Guests stay at a host site for a week, then move onto another host site. During the day, guests work, pursue employment, attend school, or enroll in job training. The program provides transportation to and from the host sites and the Family Center.
The mission of St. Anthony Food Bank is to create within the community an atmosphere of love, caring and sharing which involves services and actions based on true commitment to the welfare of the less-fortunate and to send no one away without improving their present situation, in some way.
The Food Pantry is accepting food donations on Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 am to 12 noon. Food distribution takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 12 noon.
